Ireland’s vibrant medtech sector will be the focus for a new international conference in May 2020 when the inaugural MedTech West Summit takes place in Galway City.

The triumvirate of multinationals, indigenous SMEs and start-ups that make up the medtech community in Ireland will share a platform for a robust examination of the challenges and opportunities currently facing the sector.

The medtech sector is a thriving ecosystem in which State agencies, academic institutions and health bodies work closely with industry in an established regulatory environment.

This content-driven conference will follow a live stage format and examine the key challenges and opportunities facing the medtech sector in Ireland and internationally.

The west of Ireland is an internationally renowned medical device cluster. With Galway’s continued position as the centre of Irish medtech, MedTech West Summit co-founder Stuart Dempsey says that the location of the conference was always set for the west.

“There was strong consensus across the board regarding where to hold the conference. Galway is recognised globally as a leading medtech hub with some of the most important multinational and indigenous companies based here.”

A number of official partners for the event have also been confirmed to date, with further announcements over the coming months. Amongst those confirmed are Arthur Cox, one of Ireland’s largest law firms; EY, a global leader in assurance, tax, transaction and advisory services; and the National Standards Authority of Ireland (NSAI).

MedTech West Summit takes place at the Galmont Hotel & Spa in Galway City on May 7, 2020. More information is available at
